The Story

Located halfway between the village of Piancaldoli and Monte La Fine is the “La Fine” agritourism farm .

In 1968, Romano Piancaldini leased the estate, which consisted of forests, chestnut groves, and arable fields. Its name derives from inscriptions found on “pietra serena” dating back to 1700.

In 1993, he purchased the property outright, and in 2003, he decided to renovate the old farmhouse on the estate, converting it into a bed-and-breakfast while expanding the farm and forestry operations, thereby fulfilling his lifelong dream.

Romano, a humble man with an entrepreneurial spirit, is known for his dynamic energy, unique initiative, and deep dedication to his work. One of his greatest desires was to use all the local products—and, above all, those derived from his own livestock and crops—in his new project.

Finally, on December 31, 2005 the "La Fine" Farmstay.

Where We Are

We are surrounded by woods— chestnut groves, to be precise—that invite you to take relaxing and rejuvenating walks amidst the greenery. A true remedy for the wear and tear and stress of daily life and work!

In just a few minutes, you can reach Monte La Fine, which stands at 990 meters above sea level and offers a sweeping panoramic view all the way to the Adriatic Sea.

The village of Piancaldoli is easily accessible, whether on foot or by car, and offers local specialties such as cured meats and cheeses, as well as tempting cookies and tarts, along with delicious Tuscan bread.

A short drive away (15 minutes by car) is the Raticosa Pass, a destination highly sought after by motorcyclists and lovers of high-altitude views alike. From there, you can head down toward Florence or Bologna. Or you can head toward the Barberino area to visit the world-famous Mugello International Circuit.

The Style of the Agriturismo

The renovation successfully balanced respect for the environment—and thus the preservation of the style of traditional Tuscan country homes with their beautiful exposed sandstone—with a few concessions to modernity, particularly in terms of the comfortable and inviting amenities.

Our company operates a cattle farm registeredwith the Association for the Protection of the White Veal of the Central Apennines for the Chianina, Romagnola, and Marchigiana PGI breeds.

We have 15 hectares of chestnut groves that produce “Marroni del Mugello,” which are also recognized by the European Union as a Protected Geographical Indication.

Don’t miss out on the flavors of our carefully prepared traditional cuisine, featuring authentic menus made with our farm’s own products, such as organic meat, artisanal pasta, homemade desserts, and delicious blackberry, plum, and chestnut jams.
